Observance of World Hospice and Palliative care day 2023 & 2025 and Observance of World Day of the sick 2025

St. Joseph Pain and Palliative Care centre celebrated World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2025, under the theme “Achieving the promise: Universal Access to Palliative care” at its center on October 17 2025. Chief Guest Lhousito Khro, Chairman of Chümoukedima Town Council, shared his heartfelt appreciation after his first direct experience with hospice care, praising the compassionate work of the Catholic sisters and the leadership of Fr. Chacko. He assured continued community support for the centre’s mission.

Dr. Tony Vikas Biswas, HOD & Consultant, Palliative Medicine, CIHSR, highlighted that palliative care is holistic and must begin early in treatment. He emphasized the importance of dignity, compassion, and multidisciplinary support in caring for patients beyond medical treatment.

The programme featured performances by SJPC staff and students, video presentations, and messages from key members of the community and healthcare professionals, reaffirming the centre’s dedication to compassionate end-of-life care.
